Journalist Dahr Jamail Book Tour 2009 Connecticut

Dahr has spent a total of nine months in occupied Iraq as one of only a few independent US journalists in the country. Dahr has also has reported from Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. He has also reported extensively on veterans’ resistance against the war. He currently writes for the Inter Press Service, Le Monde Diplomatique, and many other outlets. His stories have also been published with The Nation, The Sunday Herald in Scotland, Al-Jazeera, the Guardian, Foreign Policy in Focus, and the Independent to name just a few. Dahr’s dispatches and hard news stories have been translated into French, Polish, German, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic and Turkish. On radio as well as television, Dahr reports for Democracy Now!, has appeared on the BBC and NPR, and numerous other stations around the globe. Dahr is also special correspondent for Flashpoints.

Part 3, September 17, 2009, Veteran for Peace Fred Louis, and Organizers for Dahr Jamail's Will to Resist War Tour of CT, Fred Louis shares some reactions to Dahr Jamail's report that American soldiers are avoiding combat patrol missions. He is a Vietnam Veteran working for Peace who says GIs did the same thing during the Vietnam War. See Veterans for Peace.

Dahr’s reporting has earned him numerous awards, including the prestigious 2008 Martha Gellhorn Award for Journalism, The Lannan Foundation Writing Residency Fellowship, the James Aronson Award for Social Justice Journalism, the Joe A. Callaway Award for Civic Courage, and four Project Censored awards.

Dahr Jamail's 2nd book was released this summer. The title is, 'The Will to Resist, Soldiers Who Refuse to Fight in Iraq and Afghanistan, with a forward by Chris Hedges. (Dahr's Books will be available at all of the locations below.)

Dahr Jamail's 2009 tour of Connecticut begins Saturday September 19, 2009. at 6:00 PM at The Wrench in the Works Collective, a member-run coffeehouse and social justice center at 861 Main St in Willimantic, CT. Meet Dahr Jamail over a cup of fair-trade coffee or tea. This will be a book signing social with a round table discussion about Dahr Jamail's book, "The Will To Resist: Soldiers who Refuse to Fight in Iraq and Afghanistan" (Haymarket Books). Food Served: Light meal of vegetable dishes and fruit salad, fresh rolls.
